Someone to whom this promo would appeal to will most likely be someone who works for an hourly wage, i'm gonna guess somewhere close to the minimum. How long do you think the line-ups will be?

I don't get on the PC too much these days. It's summer and i have been on a bit of an extended holiday. I went on a bit of a mini tour in August, with a week off in the middle, so I decided to visit some family and friends in my other hometown of Kelowna. From there I did a one-off in Edmonton at Klondike Days, rocked out to GWAR, then went camping in Jasper. Checked out the Columbia Icefields, cliff dived at Horseshoe Lake and roasted a whole bag of marshmallows at once. Then back to Kelowna.

I burned so bad i peeled. Twice.

I need a haircut.

I've been drinking alot of rum lately. It started out in Toronto, with the Quest for the Perfect Mojito. We even had fresh mint delivered to the hotel bar. Ultimately, the Quest was fruitless. So I started makin em myself. Lethal. Now I am onto Dark and Stormys. Look em up. Its hard to find Ginger beer in Kelowna, but I found a source that I am keeping to myself because they don't have alot left.

I'm losing weight.

I haven't heard from Ashley for awhile, I hope she is still alive.

I fried my iPod trying to do some wildly unauthorized hacks, so I lost everything after resetting it.

The water pump blew on my luxury SUV. Happens alot here in Ktown, it's classified as a desert in the summer months. That means it's hot. Maybe it's time to put my environmental money where my mouth is and trade up to something more...practical. Any suggestions?

A great way to kill 30-45 seconds of your life

The fire alarm went off in my building yesterday. Two and a half hours to figure out it was a false alarm.

I live on the top floor. And elevators shut off during fire alarms.

Great cardio.

The Capitol 6 movie theatre closed here a few weeks ago. I live across the street from it. I saw Star Wars there. It played for like, a year. I also saw Friday the 13th in 3D there. I was young and it was the first time i smelled people smoking pot in a movie theatre. I went with my aunt.

I am officially addicted to Bellinis. I am waiting for the people from the show Intervention to subdue me at Cactus Club.

I'm thinking of moving to the suburbs.

I sucked at Poker on saturday nite.I went all-in with a pair of Kings, heads up, and he calls me with a Queen-10 off suit. Yep, he caught the flush on the river. Fucker. I know, I sound bitter. I didn't even make the final table.

Rich has fallen victim to acute Sock Theft. Several socks have been reported missing and pressumably dead. When a sock or two goes missing, the FBI and the CIA are called in to investigate. If they have no suspects or an ID on the missing socks within the first 48 hrs of the investigation it's called off and the owners are contacted about their loved cotton.

But what the CIA and the FBI haven't been telling you is where the socks are actually going. They have the suspects, they just don't have the know-how to catch them.

Who are they do you say?
Are they cunning ninja's dressed in black and move at the speed of light so you don't even notice them as they swipe your footies?

I become convinced that no one loves me, not even my mother, who won't jump on a plane and rush to my side with a bowl of hot chicken soup and a cold compress.

Yep, I become bitter and miserable when ill.

Makes me appreciate the little things in life though, like breathing clearly, walking without pain, sunny days, and no one is shooting at me.

I was listening to the local rock station today and they were talking about an out door festival show that happened on friday evening. Apparently the headlining act got bottled off the stage. At a university show. University.

Now, perhaps this is a modern day rite of passage for young people, akin to swallowing goldfish and stuffing telephone booths, maybe I missed something along the way.

Maybe I'm old and bitter.

But I can empathize. I have been hit with flying debris many times while onstage, and it is no fun.

Actually, it sucks.

I can't say I blame anyone for not wanting to complete a performance under such hostile conditions, but kudos go to those artists who plow through for the sake of the true fans.

Lemmy said it best, "If you are standing next to someone and they throw something, cripple them! Cause we are going to leave and not come back!" Coarse, but I feel his pain. Especially the time I was hit by a beer bottle.

Time for the spin cycle....

Cab drivers who answer their cell phone while driving

Cab driver you have to give directions to...
-One time I was staying in downtown Toronto, and had a 2:00 pm soundcheck at Canada's Wonderland. I was told by my overworked and underpaid bass tech to simply get on the 401 and go north until you see the signs. Ok, so I get in the cab, it's about a 30-45 minute drive I am told, at 12:oo pm allowing myself two hours to get there. Minutes after I get in the cab, my cell phone rings and I am told soundcheck is pushed ahead an hour, to 1:00 pm. No problem, I figure, as I have allowed myself two hours to get there in the first place. I be lieve I have plenty of time. So, we are driving, I am reading a newspaper, then I take time to look out the window. We are on the highway. Then I notice a road sign. Highway 407. Hmm, I think to myself. I ask the cabbie, whom I have already given instructions to take me to Canada's Wonderland, off of Highway 401. I say, "aren't we supposed to be on the 401? Why are we on 407?" He says "they are the same." this seems dubious to me, but I think to myself, he lives here, I don't, and he is a trained professional. So we drive on, and after about 45 minutes, I begin to doubt his navigational abilities, as I am not seeing anything remotely like a theme park. I as again if he is sure where he is going. He says yes. I ask if maybe he should call his dispatch, just to be sure. He says he knows. Now, when I see signs that say "Aurora, Next Left" my limited sense of geography kicks in and I say, "maybe we should look at a map" He reaches under his seat and whips out this huuuge mapbook, then hands it back to me. I now realize that I am in a bit of trouble. I phone my tourmanager, who hails from Toronto, to tell him of my situation. "Dude, I am in a cab, I think we made a wrong turn, I see signs that say Aurora" well, he starts laughing like I am crackin wise on him. I now tell the cabbie to pull the hell over. Of course, he now sees the error of his ways. Oh, and by now the meter is at about $80.00. We pull into this rest area type place, he still won't call his dispatch for directions or look at the map book, which I am quickly trying to decipher. So what brainstorm does my hapless cabbie have? He starts walking up to people in their cars and asks them in broken english how to get to Canada's Wonderland. By now I want to drop a world of hurt on this guy, but I think to myself if I do, he will just leave me here, and then I am truly fucked. It is now 12:55. So finally we get pointed in the right direction, I have figured out the mapbook, and now he is taking wrong turns again! I point to the map repeatedly, but he reacts like I am showing him nude shots of his long-dead granny:15 pm. Meter-$145.00. Tour manager calls. "Where are you? What do you see?" I see cornfields!" Finally, 1:30, I am at the gates of Canada's Wonderland. Meter is at $160.00. I jump out of the cab, with no intention of paying this guy for my senic tour through Ontario's back country. Get on stage under the steaming glare of the band's singer. We play one song, everything is sounding great. Play another, without vocals, the singer comes in late, I change on time, so I get the look of death, like it is my fault for his screw up, global warming and the fact that Bush is still president. I of course say nothing, as he is a tightly wound character looking for someone to unwind on. Even my drummer came up to me after our ten minute soundcheck that took me 90 minutes to get to, to inform me that I was indeed playing correctly. Oh wait. It gets better. So remember the cabbie I left at the gate? Well he sat there for a couple of hours waiting for me to get back so I could pay him. For real. My tour manager came to me on the bus to inform me of this and asked what he should do. I said, ok, let's take what the trip would normally cost, subtract what it cost in lost wages having our crew of 12 people standing around waiting for me, not to mention the staff at the venue, and see where we stand. OK, he says, and off he goes. About an hour later, he comes back to tell me that the police were here, and they wanted to arrest me, and my tourmanager, for fraud, or some other bullshit. But it was all eventually smoothed over, and now I take the bus.

There are lots of other little things tha piss me off, but I have been rambling for far too long. They will have to wait for another day.

I've had a couple of run ins with a couple of the guys from KISS over the years.

The first one was at a MuchMusic Video Awards party a few years ago, where Paul Stanley showed up with The Supermodel Carol Alt. I later discovered that this was a staged entrance, Paul left with Lance Bass and Carol picked up the drummer of the band i was in. Quite funny, actually, because Paul ditched her, she had no ride to the after party. I ever so graciously offered her a ride in our limo, but my bone head drummer, who was oblivious to her advances, informed her that there was no room.

Another time, I spent the afternoon with Gene Simmons. Weird, because we spent the afternoon talking about contract law. Quite a contrast to the fire breathing blood spewing demon who graced my prepubescent bedroom walls. The day felt like a mini class of rock school.

Welcome to my world.

It's funny, I used to love music. I fell into the "business" quite by accident, no dreams, no starry eyes, it just seemed an easy way to meet people (and by people I mean babes), travel and get free stuff (and by free stuff I mean booze). Plus, it wasn't illegal, which seemed to be my only other option at the time, thanks to my lower middle-class upbringing.

Over the years, however, you meet people, find yourself in certain situations, and ask, "why does everyone say, 'it's all about the music, man?'" when clearly it is not?

When I talk to people in the business community who have no idea how "the business" works, and I explain it to them, they look at me like I am from another planet. They ask, "do people really go for this?" It's true, try it at home.

Be careful what you wish for.

I recently acquired an iPod.

This is the greatest invention ever. I just spent the last 2 weeks converting all of my CD's to MP3's. I also learned a great deal about illegal downloading. I may do a how-to post later, if I can determine whether or not I will be arrested. However, since I gave away most of my now defunct CD's, I figure my karma bank can take it.

Besides, you can't halt the future.

Bundled with the iPod is software called iTunes. One of the neat features it has is a top 25 list.
